Day 6 on the Camino Frances, layover day in Pamplona

It was great seeing the big medeivil defensive walls around the old part of the city. Pamplona was attacked many times in the past, including by Charlemagne in the 8th century. The present defensive wall is from the 16th century.

We fell in love with the old city, and explored street after street of little shops. I found a cool knife at a pilgrim store. Pilgrim stores are shops that have pilgrim specific items, like packs, shoes, walking sticks, clothing, and souvenirs. Below is a typical street scene in the old city.
